LA Fitness Launches 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Across U.S. Clubs

LA Fitness will hold its first 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at participating locations across the U.S. from September 11 through September 13, combining a physical challenge with remembrance of the first responders who served during the September 11, 2001 attacks.
The event will challenge participants to complete 110 flights on StairMaster machines, representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers.
The climb is open to LA Fitness members and guests, as well as first responders and other members of participating clubs' local communities. Fitness International, which operates LA Fitness, said the event is designed to provide a fitness-based way for participants to recognize the service and sacrifice of first responders.
"The 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb is an opportunity for our members, guests, and local communities to come together and remember the heroes who demonstrated extraordinary courage and selflessness on September 11th," said Jill Hill, President of Club Operations at Fitness International. "We are proud to host an event that honors the legacy of those who served others."
Individual locations may also incorporate firefighter appearances, special fitness classes, live DJs and local vendors into their events.
The three-day initiative represents another example of fitness operators using their physical locations for community-focused programming beyond traditional workouts and classes. In this case, the standardized 110-flight challenge gives participating clubs a common format while allowing individual locations to incorporate additional programming.
Fitness International is also extending a complimentary 30-day LA Fitness guest pass to first responders in connection with the event. The passes must be redeemed at participating clubs between September 11 and September 13, 2026.
The inaugural event will operate under the theme "Remember. Honor. Climb."
