The National Academy of Sports Medicine has announced the formation of a new Strategic Advisory Board, bringing together several high-profile leaders from across the fitness, health, and wellness sectors. The move comes as the industry continues to evolve, shaped by rapid technological advancement, a growing emphasis on holistic well-being, and the need for more personalized approaches to health and fitness.

Co-chaired by Mark Mastrov and Neal Spruce, the board will provide strategic input to help guide NASM through this shifting landscape. Mastrov, known for founding 24 Hour Fitness and serving as Chairman of New Evolution Ventures, has played a central role in building major global fitness brands including Crunch Fitness and UFC Gym. Spruce, Founder and CEO of dotFIT and former owner and CEO of NASM, also brings decades of leadership and expertise to the board.

The remaining members include Dr. Amy Bantham, Founder and CEO of Move to Live More; Kat Barefield, Vice President of Nutrition Services at dotFIT; Molly Long, Chief Operating Officer at Crunch Fitness; Chris Powell, Founder of Move One Million and former host of ABC’s Extreme Weight Loss; and Jeff Rosga, National Director of Dynamic Personal Training at Life Time. Together, this group will advise on product development, technology, distribution strategies, and policy considerations.

“We are very excited to announce the appointment of a distinguished group of industry leaders to NASM’s inaugural Strategic Advisory Board,” stated Mehul Patel, CEO of NASM. “In a rapidly evolving fitness and wellness landscape, it is essential for NASM to gain insight and guidance from industry leaders to ensure that we continue to deliver exceptional products and services to our clients. The collective wisdom and expertise of our Strategic Advisory Board will provide critical input to shape the future of NASM and the fitness industry as a whole.”

According to NASM, the advisory board reflects the company’s commitment to staying ahead of industry trends and ensuring its offerings remain relevant and impactful. By drawing on the insights of seasoned professionals from a variety of backgrounds, the organization aims to strengthen its leadership position in the global fitness and wellness education space.
