EGYM has updated its BioAge fitness indicator and introduced a new training program designed to address growing member interest in longevity and healthy aging.

Released alongside the EGYM Smart Strength Series 3, the two additions are intended to help fitness facilities measure factors associated with biological fitness and provide members with structured training focused on long-term physical performance.

The updated BioAge calculation draws on data from millions of workouts completed across the EGYM network, along with age-related benchmarks and sports science research. The system assesses four areas of physical fitness: strength, cardiovascular fitness, metabolism and flexibility.

“The fitness industry has been talking about longevity for years. With the new BioAge data, we are making healthy aging visible and comprehensible for millions of people in a more concrete way,” said Florian Eibl, Senior Principal Product Manager at EGYM. “The combination of real training data, modern sports science, and intelligent age-referencing creates a significantly more precise picture of long-term physical performance. This not only motivates members in the short term, but also supports sustainable behavioral changes over many years.”

The updated Strength BioAge uses revised reference values based on workout data collected from EGYM users across different fitness levels. The Cardio BioAge calculation now places greater emphasis on age-related VO2 max classifications, while the Metabolism BioAge includes skeletal muscle mass as a central measurement.

Flexibility assessments have also been revised to compare member performance against age-related benchmarks.

Members will retain access to their previous BioAge results and progress history. Updated reference values will be applied following their next assessment or strength test.

EGYM has also introduced a Longevity training program combining strength, cardiovascular exercise and mobility within a structured training plan.

The program is available as a training goal through EGYM Genius AI and through specialized programs for EGYM Smart Strength and Smart Cardio equipment.

According to the company, the program was developed using current training and aging research, alongside insights from millions of workouts completed within the EGYM network.

The program is designed to support areas associated with maintaining physical function as people age, including muscle mass, bone density, mobility and cardiovascular performance.

EGYM said the system combines intelligent training control with individualized training stimuli to help members improve strength and muscle mass without placing excessive stress on the body.

“Healthy aging is not achieved through a singular training goal—it is the outcome of an intelligent balance of various physical capabilities,” Eibl said. “That’s precisely why our Longevity program combines strength, endurance, and mobility in one scientifically sound overall concept. Members thus receive a clear and practical way to actively extend their healthspan.”

The BioAge update and Longevity program reflect a broader shift among fitness providers toward programming focused on maintaining health, mobility and physical independence over time.
