Kevin Hart’s investment company, Hartbeat Ventures, has led a 35 million dollar Series B funding round for Simple, an AI-based health app designed to support weight management and healthier lifestyle habits. The financing also included participation from Liquidity, a firm specializing in AI-driven private credit.
The investment follows a period of strong growth for Simple. The company reported 100 million dollars in revenue for 2024, representing a 64 percent increase from the previous year. The app has now been downloaded more than 20 million times, and its users have collectively lost over 17.5 million pounds through personalized coaching and nutrition tracking.
“I’m hyped to back Simple through my fund Hartbeat Ventures. Simple is truly changing the game in health, and HBV wants to be front row for that,” said Kevin Hart, founder of Hartbeat Ventures.
Simple’s AI coach, called Avo, provides users with real-time feedback on nutrition and behavioral habits. The company said that Avo delivered 19 million coaching messages in January 2025 alone. According to a peer-reviewed study involving more than 50,000 participants, 42 percent of users achieved at least five percent body weight reduction after one year of use.
Founder and CEO Mike Prytkov said the company’s approach emphasizes building lasting habits over quick results. “Most weight-loss solutions fixate on the end goal. We focus on the journey, making it adaptive, rewarding, and sustainable,” he said.
The new funding will be directed toward expanding Simple’s AI capabilities, particularly in areas of personalization, multimodal coaching, and gamification. The company is also piloting a new companion feature that introduces streaks, challenges, and rewards to encourage consistency and user retention.
Liquidity Managing Director Paul Brodie said the investment aligns with the firm’s focus on supporting technology-driven businesses. “This financing reinforces our commitment to empowering growth-stage industry innovators with fast, flexible capital tailored to scale with their ambitions,” he said.
Founded under the name Simple Life, the company offers AI-powered nutrition insights, on-demand coaching, and adaptive health plans. It has been recognized among the Top 100 AI Companies by the World Future Awards and named Best Virtual Health Coach of 2025 by MedTech Breakthrough.
Simple reports having more than 800,000 active subscribers and an average 4.7-star rating across app platforms. Its research has been featured in peer-reviewed journals including Annals of Behavioral Medicine and the International Journal of Obesity, and presented at conferences such as Obesity Science & Practice.
