Planet Fitness Leans Into Back to School With Member Discounts

The start of the school year often brings a return to structure and renewed focus on personal goals after the slower pace of summer. Planet Fitness is looking to tap into that shift with “PerksFest,” a promotion running through August 29 that provides members with exclusive discounts from well-known national brands.

Partners in the campaign include Apple Music, Headspace, and WeightWatchers, offering savings that extend beyond the gym into areas such as nutrition, mental wellness, and entertainment. Both Classic Card and Black Card members are eligible for the perks, which are framed as an added benefit to Planet Fitness’ low-cost membership model.

“Planet Fitness knows that back to school season can put a strain on family budgets, which is why we strive to offer a high value, affordable membership and exclusive PF Perks deals that help lighten that load,” said Justin Unger, Sr. Director of Partnerships at Planet Fitness. “So far this year, we’ve helped our members save nearly $6 million dollars on brands they love.”

The initiative comes as many operators in the fitness industry are looking to keep members engaged heading into the fall. With families already planning to spend heavily during the back-to-school period, Planet Fitness is positioning its clubs as a natural part of the seasonal reset, when routines are being reestablished and wellness goals often resurface.

PerksFest runs through August 29, after which members will still have access to ongoing discounts through the company’s year-round PF Perks program.
