Hyperice has announced the global release of Hyperice X 2, an updated version of its contrast therapy line designed for athletes and active users. The new devices, Hyperice X 2 Knee and Hyperice X 2 Shoulder, introduce expanded temperature ranges, compression technology, and improved portability.

The product builds on the original Hyperice X, which was introduced after the company’s 2021 acquisition of RecoverX. The new generation was refined through testing with elite athletes and incorporates feedback on performance and usability.

“Recovery and wellness are fundamental to living well, from professional athletes to people of all ages,” said Jim Huether, CEO of Hyperice. “With Hyperice X 2 Shoulder and Hyperice X 2 Knee, we’re not just advancing recovery, we’re redefining it. This next generation maintains the mobility and power of its predecessor while seamlessly fusing contrast therapy and compression into a sleek, more practical design.”

The devices feature five levels of compression, ranging up to 160mmHg, aimed at pushing hot and cold temperatures deeper into tissue. Temperature settings now range from 40°F (4°C) to 121°F (49°C), compared to 45°F (7°C) to 113°F (45°C) in the original version. A new OLED display allows users to toggle between hot, cold, contrast therapy, and compression modes without requiring app integration, though Bluetooth compatibility remains an option.

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, who tested the device, said, “I can push my limits on the field because the built-in compression elevates my warm-up, and the contrast therapy helps me bounce back quickly for peak performance.”

Hyperice states the updated device runs for up to 1.5 hours on a single charge and weighs 2.5 pounds, making it portable and TSA-compliant. Both models are designed to fit either side of the body for broader use cases.

Contrast therapy, which alternates between heat and cold, has been shown to help reduce swelling, increase circulation, and improve mobility. The addition of compression aims to enhance these benefits by limiting fluid buildup and promoting faster recovery.
