Wattbike has announced a new integration with EGYM, enabling its indoor bikes to connect directly with the EGYM ecosystem and contribute data to members' Cardio BioAge scores.
The integration allows performance metrics collected during Wattbike sessions—including VO2 Max estimates, calories burned and virtual distance—to automatically sync with the EGYM platform. VO2 Max results generated through Wattbike's Healthspan test will also contribute to a member's Cardio BioAge assessment.
The partnership comes as more fitness operators adopt connected technologies to deliver personalized programming and track measurable health outcomes. By integrating Wattbike data into the EGYM ecosystem, operators can incorporate VO2 Max testing into member onboarding, periodic fitness assessments and ongoing training programs.
"Wattbike is a globally recognised leader in performance cycling and cardiorespiratory assessment," said Tino Tsolakis, VP Partner Relations at EGYM. "By integrating their proven VO2 Max capabilities into the EGYM ecosystem, we are giving operators another powerful tool to deliver highly personalised experiences and measurable health outcomes. This partnership reinforces our commitment to building the industry's most connected ecosystem for fitness and wellbeing."
According to Wattbike, its Healthspan VO2 Max check provides an estimate of cardiorespiratory fitness without requiring laboratory-based gas analysis. The company said the assessment has been used for more than a decade by organizations including the British Army, Nuffield Health, Bupa Clinics and Discovery Health in South Africa.
The companies say the integration will allow members to monitor changes in their fitness over time while giving operators additional data to support personalized coaching and member engagement.
"Wattbike is excited to join the EGYM family of connected partners," said Steve Marshall, Head of Commercial at Wattbike. "We bring over a decade of experience in delivering VO2 Max estimate testing in labs and gyms globally and we are thrilled to combine with EGYM to bring this credibility to the EGYM ecosystem globally."
The integration is available immediately. Wattbike said compatible bikes require the latest firmware updates to connect with the EGYM Cloud, while older compatible models can be retrofitted with the necessary NFC or RFID hardware.
