GymNation has launched a new athleisure collection in Saudi Arabia featuring a Muscle Thobe and GymNation Ghutra, marking the gym operator's latest expansion beyond fitness services and into branded apparel.
The collection, which is available in select GymNation clubs across Riyadh and Jeddah, was developed in response to member feedback and is designed for wear before and after workouts rather than during exercise. GymNation said it also plans to expand the range across the GCC with products including kanduras.
The launch comes as participation in fitness continues to grow across the region. According to GymNation's latest fitness survey, 94 percent of respondents said they aspire to be healthier, while 43 percent reported increasing their spending on health and fitness over the past year.
The Muscle Thobe is made from four-way stretch, moisture-wicking fabric and is intended as pre- and post-workout apparel. The accompanying GymNation Ghutra maintains the traditional silhouette of the Saudi headdress while incorporating the company's branding. The products are available individually or as a matching set.
GymNation said the collection was developed following conversations with members and in consultation with cultural advisors to ensure the garments respected their cultural significance.
The launch follows a broader trend within the sportswear industry of developing products tailored to regional markets. Brands including Nike have introduced products such as the Pro Hijab, while Gymshark has expanded its range of modest activewear.
"What's important about this launch is that it came from our members," said Rory McEntee, Chief Marketing Officer at GymNation. "We've been building a fitness community across the Gulf for over eight years now and this idea came from listening to them. Over the years we've seen a new generation become increasingly passionate about fitness, performance and personal wellbeing, while remaining deeply connected to their culture and traditions. We wanted to combine gym community and local culture in a way that felt authentic and respectful. We've spoken to members, researched the idea extensively and worked closely with advisors to get it right."
GymNation said the apparel reflects increasing interest in fitness across Saudi Arabia, supported by initiatives such as Vision 2030, which aim to encourage greater participation in sport and physical activity.
The collection became available on July 13 at select GymNation locations in Riyadh and Jeddah.
