ŌURA has introduced two new features: Meals and Glucose. The update is now available in the Oura App for U.S.-based members and signals a strategic expansion into the metabolic health space.

The additions combine AI-driven meal tracking with continuous glucose monitoring through Stelo, a wearable biosensor developed by Dexcom. Stelo is the first FDA-cleared glucose sensor available in the United States without a prescription.

“Our product roadmap for this year is built on a robust investment in AI-forward offerings that enable a deeper understanding of the dynamic interplay of key health factors,” said Holly Shelton, chief product officer at ŌURA. “The addition of nutrition-focused features to our product experience was a natural next step.”

The Meals feature allows users to upload or take a photo of a meal, which the app then analyzes using AI. Rather than focusing on calorie counts, the feature highlights macronutrients, added sugars, fiber, and other elements that influence energy and satiety. Members receive non-judgmental feedback designed to help them build sustainable eating habits aligned with their health goals.

Meals was previously tested in Oura Labs, the company's innovation hub, before becoming a permanent offering. The feature includes a Nutrition Breakdown that summarizes key food components and uses Oura Advisor, the platform’s AI assistant, to provide guidance based on personal data.

Glucose monitoring is now available through a partnership with Dexcom. Users can purchase a Stelo biosensor directly from ouraring.com and sync it with the Oura App to view real-time glucose data in context with metrics like sleep, stress, and activity. The integration includes a new metric called “Time Above Range” and visualizations that help users identify trends and patterns in their glucose levels.

“By integrating with ŌURA, we're bringing the first glucose biosensor and smart ring integration to the market,” said Jake Leach, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Dexcom. “This allows users to better understand the link between activity, sleep, stress, nutrition, and their glucose.”

Metabolic health has become an increasing area of focus within the fitness and wellness industries. It affects energy, cognition, and performance, and is tied to long-term risks such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity. ŌURA’s new features aim to provide users with more personalized insight into how lifestyle factors affect glucose levels and overall health.

“Meal-induced glucose spikes can vary significantly due to factors like sleep, stress, exercise, and meal timing,” said Shyamal Patel, senior vice president of science at ŌURA. “We encourage members to observe patterns, experiment with habits, and discover what helps them maintain better glucose balance over time.”

Meals and Glucose join the existing set of features already available in the Oura App, which include sleep, readiness, activity, stress, and heart health tracking. All features are supported by Oura Advisor, a large language model that provides contextual, personalized insights using member data.

ŌURA confirmed that Meals and Glucose are now available on iOS and Android for members in the United States. International rollout for the Meals feature is expected later this year. Oura Advisor is currently active across key health categories and will expand to other metrics over time.

The Stelo sensor can be purchased for $99 and includes two units with up to 15 days of use each. It is currently available in the United States for adults aged 18 and over who are not on insulin, including those with prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes. Both the Oura Ring and Stelo are eligible for purchase using FSA or HSA funds.
