As artificial intelligence continues to expand into health and wellness, a new entrant is taking a voice-first approach to mental wellbeing.

Swedish company Grido AB has launched Grido across the European Union, introducing an AI-powered mental wellbeing companion designed to interact through spoken conversation rather than text.

Unlike many AI wellness platforms that rely on chatbot-style interfaces, Grido is built around voice from the outset. Users speak directly to the app, which responds conversationally and is designed to remember previous interactions over time.

The company positions Grido as a mental wellbeing companion for everyday use rather than a clinical or medical product.

"We did not want to build another chatbot," said Hira Verick, co-founder of Grido. "People want to talk, and they want to be heard."

Privacy is another area the company has emphasized. According to Grido, user data and infrastructure remain within the European Union and are governed by European privacy regulations. For AI applications that process voice conversations, where data is stored and how it is managed has become an increasingly important consideration for both developers and users.

The app is available through Apple's App Store across European Union markets. New users receive 60 minutes of free access before transitioning to a subscription model starting at €5.99 per month.

The launch adds to a growing number of AI-powered wellness applications entering the market, as developers look beyond fitness coaching and nutrition into tools designed to support everyday mental wellbeing.
