Planet Fitness has announced the return of its High School Summer Pass program, giving teenagers aged 14 to 19 the opportunity to work out for free at any of its more than 2,700 locations in the United States and Canada. The initiative, now in its fifth year, will run from June 1 through August 31.

Launched in 2019, the program aims to support teen health and wellness during the summer months, a time when access to structured physical activity often declines. According to Planet Fitness, the company has waived more than $300 million in membership dues for teen participants since the program began.

“At Planet Fitness, we offer a high value experience to both our members and High School Summer Pass participants in a welcoming, Judgement Free environment where everyone can get a great workout,” said Colleen Keating, Chief Executive Officer. “With free access to our clubs throughout the summer, we're providing teens with the tools they need to develop healthy fitness habits that can last a lifetime.”

Teens who sign up will gain access to a full range of fitness equipment, teen-specific workout plans, certified fitness trainer support, and on-demand digital workouts through the Planet Fitness app. All participants must register at PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass, and those under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver.

To better understand the needs of young people, Planet Fitness commissioned a nationwide survey of 1,000 parents and their teens, conducted by Wired Research. The findings highlight mental wellness as a key concern, with 66% of parents expressing worry over their teen’s stress levels. Meanwhile, 90% of teens reported that exercise helps them feel happy, and 93% said it helps them manage challenges.

The company also noted that screen time remains high among this age group, with 81% of teens acknowledging that social media and video games consume a large part of their day.

U.S. gymnast and two-time Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik is partnering with Planet Fitness to promote the initiative.

“Fitness and training have always been a huge part of my life—not just for competing, but for who I am as a person,” said Nedoroscik. “That’s why I am excited to team up with Planet Fitness this summer to support their annual High School Summer Pass program. Giving teens free access to a place to move, feel confident, and chase their goals is powerful.”

Teens must use the same location where they register, and the offer applies only to participating clubs. Those interested are encouraged to check with their local Planet Fitness to confirm availability.
