Spotify is moving beyond audio. The streaming platform announced today the launch of a dedicated fitness category, adding guided workout content directly into its app alongside music, podcasts, and video. Premium subscribers in supported markets will receive access to more than 1,400 on-demand Peloton classes at no additional cost as part of their existing subscription.

The Peloton library covers strength, cardio, yoga, and meditation, with outdoor runs also included. No specialized equipment is required. Classes are available on demand and can be downloaded for offline use. Content is primarily in English, with select options in Spanish and German, and the catalog is described as continuing to grow.

Beyond Peloton, free and Premium users will have access to content from independent wellness creators including Yoga with Kassandra, Chloe Ting Home Workouts, Sweaty Studio, Pilates Body by Raven, and several others. Spotify says the experience is designed to work across devices, allowing users to start a video class on a TV, transition to audio on a phone, and finish with guided recovery on a smart speaker.

The move is backed by usage data Spotify has been sitting on for some time. The company says nearly 70% of Premium users work out monthly, and more than 150 million fitness playlists are currently active globally. Fitness and workout content has also ranked among the top use cases for Prompted Playlists, a feature the platform launched earlier this year.

For operators watching platform consolidation in the wellness space, the implications are worth tracking. Spotify brings roughly 675 million monthly active users and an existing behavior loop around workout audio. Folding structured fitness content into that ecosystem, particularly with a major connected fitness brand like Peloton, positions the platform as a low-friction competitor to standalone workout apps. For Peloton, the partnership extends its instructor-led content to a user base that has never paid for a Peloton subscription, potentially reactivating brand relevance at a broader scale.

The fitness hub is accessible now via the Spotify app under Browse or by searching "fitness."
