GLP-1 medications have changed how people approach weight loss, but many users are left managing nutrition, side effects, and long-term habits on their own. Weight Watchers is aiming to close that gap with a redesigned platform that combines medication access with behavioral support, coaching, and technology in one coordinated experience.
On December 16, WW International announced a fully integrated digital and medical offering that brings GLP-1 prescribing, personalized nutrition, coaching, and community into a reimagined app experience. The company says the focus is not just weight loss, but sustainable outcomes that extend beyond medication use.
“People want safe, expert access to GLP-1 medications, support that fits the way they actually live, and most importantly, real and sustainable results. This is what Weight Watchers delivers,” said Tara Comonte, CEO of Weight Watchers. “In fact, members who use GLP-1s while engaging with the Weight Watchers program lose more weight and report higher satisfaction and quality of life—which is why 90% of surveyed GLP-1 users expressed interest in joining community-based support programs like ours.”
At the center of the launch is Weight Watchers Med+, the company’s medical program for GLP-1 users. Med+ provides access to board-certified physicians specializing in obesity and metabolic health and includes automatic enrollment in the new GLP-1 Success Program. The program pairs medication with personalized nutrition guidance, side-effect management, strength-focused movement plans, coaching from GLP-1–trained experts, and virtual community support. More than 70% of Med+ members say the program helps them minimize medication side effects.
Weight Watchers is also offering the GLP-1 Success Program as a standalone option for individuals who receive prescriptions elsewhere, positioning the program as a complementary layer of support rather than a prescription-only service.
The redesigned app introduces new tools aimed at giving members a clearer picture of progress. A Weight Health Score aggregates data from nutrition, activity, sleep, and body composition across more than 60 connected devices and apps. An AI-powered body scanner tracks changes in fat and muscle mass, helping members better understand body composition changes that may not be reflected on the scale alone.
The platform also expands in-app fitness content, including strength and functional movement programming from The LIFTED Method by Holly Rilinger. Members can choose between adjustable Modes—All-In, Lose, and Maintain—which tailor the level of structure and guidance based on where they are in their journey.
“GLP-1 medications are powerful tools that deliver even better results when combined with behavioral support, good nutrition, movement, and ongoing monitoring,” said Dr. Kim Boyd, Chief Medical Officer of Weight Watchers. “That’s why members who use Weight Watchers programming to guide their GLP-1 journey are better equipped to achieve their goals and protect their results.”
Community remains a central part of the Weight Watchers model, with expanded virtual groups led by experienced coaches and select physicians. The launch also includes a refreshed brand identity reflecting the company’s broader role across medical care, behavior change, and long-term weight health.
The new integrated experience will begin rolling out globally starting December 26, with the Weight Watchers app available on iOS and Android.
