Chelsea Piers Fitness plans to open a new location in Manhattan’s Hudson Square neighborhood, marking another step in the company’s expansion across New York City as it approaches more than 30 years in operation.

The club, scheduled to open in the second half of 2026, will be located at 225 West Houston Street inside a historic early 20th-century industrial printing building. The facility will span roughly 50,000 square feet and occupy a full city block.

Chelsea Piers Fitness traces its origins to the Chelsea Piers Sports & Entertainment Complex on Manhattan’s west side, which opened in the mid-1990s and helped establish the brand as a large-scale destination for sports, recreation, and fitness in New York City. Over the past three decades, the company has grown into a network of full-service clubs known for combining fitness, training, recovery, and social spaces within a single facility.

The Hudson Square project reflects the company’s continued focus on opening large, amenity-driven clubs in established New York neighborhoods rather than pursuing rapid national expansion.

“At Chelsea Piers Fitness, growth starts with quality — the right location, the right space, and the right partners,” said Sam Bernstein, chief operating officer of Chelsea Piers Fitness. “Our newest location in Hudson Square allows us to build the kind of expansive club that can serve its neighborhood for decades.”

The Hudson Square location will feature several group fitness studios, including infrared yoga, traditional yoga, and HIIT training spaces. The club plans to launch with about 100 classes per week across formats such as yoga, Pilates, barre, strength training, mobility, and recovery programming, with the schedule expected to expand to around 150 classes weekly over time.

The strength and cardio floor will include equipment from Life Fitness and Hammer Strength, along with cardio equipment and programming from Peloton available to members.

Recovery amenities will include a co-ed contrast therapy area with a sauna, hot tub, and cold plunge. Locker rooms will also feature steam and sauna facilities.

Additional spaces planned for the club include multiple turf training zones used for functional workouts, boxing, TRX training, and stretching. A member lounge will provide space for working, relaxing, or meeting throughout the day, with privacy booths and shared seating areas.

The club will also include an in-house café called Canteen offering smoothies, coffee, snacks, and other food options, featuring products from Gainful. A Kids Clubhouse will provide childcare services for members with children starting at three months old.

“Hudson Square gave us the opportunity to work with incredible scale and architectural character,” said Ariel Calderón, vice president of architecture and design at Chelsea Piers Fitness. “Our approach was rooted in honoring what already exists while incorporating design elements that reflect the brand.”

As Chelsea Piers Fitness moves into its fourth decade, the Hudson Square location reinforces the company’s strategy of building large, neighborhood-focused clubs designed to serve members throughout the day with a mix of training, recovery, and social space.
