Kohler Co. is taking wellness to new territory by turning the most private room in the house into a hub for health insights. The company has launched Kohler Health, a new venture that blends design, science, and technology to turn everyday bathroom routines into personalized, data-informed experiences. Its first product, Dekoda, is a smart device that attaches to the toilet bowl and connects to an app, giving users real-time information about their well-being.

“For more than 150 years, Kohler has challenged convention with innovations that transform how people live,” said David Kohler, Chair and CEO of Kohler Co. “With Kohler Health, we extend that legacy by combining technology, design, and science to help people live more gracious, healthy, and sustainable lives.”

As health and wellness increasingly move into the home, the bathroom stands out as an untapped source of valuable information. “We built Kohler Health with a clear mission: to make the bathroom the center of health and wellness,” said Kash Kapadia, CEO of Kohler Health. “We’re establishing an entirely new vision for the bathroom, a room where many start and end their day, as a powerful space for proactive insights.”

Dekoda uses optical sensors and validated machine learning algorithms to analyze key indicators such as hydration, gut health, and the detection of blood in the toilet bowl. The data syncs with the Kohler Health app, offering users continuous awareness of personal health metrics. Privacy measures include fingerprint authentication and end-to-end encryption to ensure data security.

“Dekoda was designed with scientific rigor and cutting-edge technology to offer health and wellness insights that are passive, precise, and profoundly personal,” said Nora Tophof, Executive Director and Head of Business at Kohler Health. “It represents an entirely new category in digital health, gracious, elegant, and meaningful.”

Dekoda retails for $599 and is available now for pre-order at www.kohlerhealth.com, with shipments beginning October 21, 2025. Rather than asking people to change their habits, the company is betting that meaningful insights can come from moments that already happen every day. With its combination of design, discretion, and data, Kohler Health is positioning the bathroom as an unexpected frontier in digital health innovation.
