WHOOP will bring live player biometrics to the broadcast of the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. As the event’s official health and fitness wearable, WHOOP will integrate real-time heart rate tracking and other performance data into NBC coverage of the competition taking place September 26 to 28.
Viewers will see data from players including Justin Thomas, Tyrrell Hatton, and Ben Griffin, along with captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald. It will be the first time Ryder Cup fans can watch live measurements of stress and exertion as golfers compete in one of the sport’s most high-pressure events.
“The Ryder Cup is the ultimate arena for pressure, rivalry, and performance at the highest level,” said John Sullivan, chief marketing officer at WHOOP. “This is where WHOOP shines: helping athletes understand how to prepare, recover, and perform, while giving fans unparalleled insight into what it truly takes to compete when everything is on the line.”
WHOOP has long partnered with professional golfers, including Rory McIlroy and sisters Nelly and Jessica Korda, and has studied how sleep and recovery affect performance. In a review of 389 professionals across 521 tournaments, the company found that players with stronger recovery scores and more consistent sleep hit fewer poor shots and gained strokes both tee-to-green and on the green.
“Golf is an incredibly data rich sport, and this new partnership with WHOOP will provide fans with new and unprecedented insights into how the world’s best players manage the demands of playing in golf’s greatest team contest,” said Richard Atkinson, chief Ryder Cup officer at Ryder Cup Europe.
The Ryder Cup will take place September 26 to 28 at Bethpage Black, with NBC integrating WHOOP data throughout its broadcast coverage.
