WHOOP plans to add more than 600 employees in 2026 as the wearable technology company continues to expand its global operations.

The hiring push will span software engineering, research and design, hardware, product development and marketing roles. Most of the positions will be based at WHOOP’s headquarters in Boston’s Kenmore Square, with additional hiring expected across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Founder and CEO Will Ahmed said the company is increasing headcount at the same time many businesses are reducing hiring in favor of automation.

“Right now, companies are debating whether to hire more people or just invest in AI,” Ahmed said. “We are doing both. We are doubling down on exceptional talent and doubling down on world-class AI tools because the combination is what wins. Health monitoring is becoming one of the most important platforms in the world, and WHOOP intends to own the category.”

The hiring expansion reflects continued investment in hardware development, research and product engineering as WHOOP competes in the fast-growing wearable health technology market.

The company says its hiring process remains highly selective. WHOOP reports that roughly one candidate is hired for every 750 applicants, an acceptance rate of about 0.13 percent.

Wearable technology companies have increasingly positioned themselves as health platforms rather than fitness accessories. WHOOP’s subscription-based model focuses on sleep, recovery, strain and physiological tracking, with the company expanding into broader health monitoring and performance analytics.

The new roles are expected to open throughout 2026.
